Robert Strange is an established artist who has exhibited at the Royal Academy summer show, the Royal West Academy, the Mall Galleries with the Pastel Society and with the Society of Graphic Fine Artists. He is also a member of the Oxford Art Society and the UK Colour pencil Society, both of which he regularly exhibits. He is an active participant of Oxfordshire Art Weeks where he opens his Harwell Village based studio to the public during the month of May.
Robert’s work can be considered as following the ‘Pop Art’ genre, using every day, popular objects as a theme and inspiration for his work. These objects are usually discarded or thrown away pieces of ephemera such as bottle tops, golf tees, toys and most recently rusty objects. These forgotten articles are given a new sense of purpose and rejuvenated with bright colours encouraging the viewer to look closely at the detail, the texture and surface that makes them beautiful once more even in their old and experienced age.
Robert has worked as a sign writer, graphic designer and taught for twenty years in secondary education before committing himself to the life of a full-time artist. Robert has never lost his passion for teaching and continues to run workshops and to teach small groups and individuals in a range of media.
Robert Strange has a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Art Education and his work can be accessed on his web site at www.robert-strange.co.uk
